About Macedonian Call Ministries

MurrillI am Murrill Boitnott and I would love for you to experience the incredible joy that comes from serving other people who are far less fortunate. After serving as a campus minister at the University of Miami and a Pastor for many years, I discovered the powerful life change that occurs when we travel to another country and serve others. I observed more life change during short-term mission trips than through any other ministry. That is why I formed MCM.

If you sense a desire in your heart to experience missions in a third world country and are willing to invest a week of your life to assist others who desperately need help, I invite you to travel with us to fulfill your Macedonian Call.

About MCM

Founder

Murrill Boitnott is the founder and president of Macedonian Call Ministries, headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina. Murrill, originally from Roanoke, Virginia, was a struggling student in a small college when, in 1972, another college student introduced him to Jesus. That college student, Terry Harper, who is now the Executive Director of the West Virginia Baptist Convention, persisted in sharing the gospel with Murrill for more than a year before he received Christ.

He finished college with a degree in Biology and then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth Texas, graduating with a Masters of Divinity in 1978. He has been married to Deborah for over 30 years and they have 3 grown daughters, all of which are involved in ministry of their own.

For the past 36 plus years Murrill has had a passion to tell others about Jesus. He was a youth pastor, a campus ministry director and Pastor before founding MCM in 1997. Download the bio for Murrill and Deborah [PDF Reader required to view the bio].

Priorities

Priorities is a compilation of articles that I have written to encourage you in your walk with God.

I chose the name Priorities to help us address the many issues, demands and circumstances we face everyday of our life.

They are written to my supporters each month and have been included here for you to use in your Sunday school class, Bible study or small group.

The scope of topics is broad covering a wide range of interests that you and I need to see as priorities in our lives.

Feel free to copy them and use in any quantities, they are God's and I trust that they will be a blessing to everyone.

History

When Murrill was involved in the local church he had passion for evangelism and discipleship believing that people are eternally lost without Jesus Christ.

He also feels that in the economy of God's grace it is unfair that our USA churches have so much and the churches in remote foreign places have so little resources.

Murrill went on his first mission trip in 1985 to Guyana. For the first time he saw how the rest of the world truly lives and it broke his heart. Burdened that the churches in the U.S. have so much, while the rest of the world has so little, he returned home to Miami with a passion in his heart to help the missionaries and people of third world countries.

This was his Macedonian Call – “to come over here and help us.” In 1997 Macedonian Call Ministries was created and named from the scripture Acts 16:9, where the Apostle Paul had a vision to come over to Macedonia and help the churches.

MCM is committed to go wherever the need is and to pay its own way. MCM has led mission trips to Cuba, Guyana, Uganda, India, Nepal, Brazil, Honduras, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Romania, Russia, Columbia, Canada, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Malaysia, Venezuela, Ethiopia, to preach, do evangelism and encourage missionaries.

Why a Short-Term Mission Trip?

Because that is usually all it takes to A Short Term Mission Trip Will Change Your Lifecompletely change one’s life and ignite a passion for others! MCM has seen more life change occur on a short term mission trip than anything they have ever been involved.

When a U.S. individual goes to another country, lives with the people and eats their food something happens in his/her heart. He sees his materialistic lifestyle and is confronted with ministry from an entirely different perspective.

If you take a mission trip with MCM, you would have the opportunity to share Jesus with individuals and get personally engaged in field ministry. A trip with MCM is not designed as a tourist trip but rather we join in the ongoing ministry of the local missionaries and assist them in evangelism, discipleship and ministry.

MCM hopes that if you participate in a short term mission trip with us you will return home with a renewed love for the Lord Jesus Christ as never before and have a new zeal for missions and evangelism in your home.

A short-term mission trip can often help clarify God’s call and purpose for your life. Many who have traveled with MCM have begun the possibility of missions as a vocational calling. Others have returned year after year taking their vacation time to serve others on a mission trip.

Macedonian Call Ministries Today

Many people ask “How does MCM exist?” Is there a church, an individual, foundation or denomination that underwrites these expenses? The answer is “No.” MCM is blessed beyond words to have hundreds of committed Christians all across America who give faithfully to support this work of missions around the world because they love Jesus. This allows MCM to provide mission trips at the most affordable rate possible and to operate without the burden of overhead costs. Additionally, when we go overseas, we have hundreds of people who pray faithfully for us and have given to this ministry for many years. We could not do this ministry without people who pray, give and go.
