Absolute Truth
1 Corinthians 15:34
"The grass withers and the flowers fall but the
word of our God stands forever"

In an August ‘95 newspaper there appeared a two page ad depicting two children running with a   kite overhead advertizing a new software called Windows ‘95. The caption beneath the children were the words "No limits". This ad typifies the attitude that is the norm across our land and    summarizes the desires of almost every human being since Adam and Eve. That snapshot is an    example of the average "Christian" that I meet across this land. They are saying that they want to be    free. They want to live, without fences, a life that has no one to tell them what to do. They prefer a    life like the proverbial Lone Ranger, using silver bullets and sleeping out under the stars without any accountability, or maybe like Robin Hood that makes up the rules as he goes, to do as he pleases.    This lifestyle believes that situation ethics can determine right from wrong. The Bible tells us that the    word is our guide, not the situation. Psalm 119:105 " Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for    my path."

Tolerance has become our nation's theme. We have women's rights, and animal rights, and gay    rights, and who only knows what is next. According to this philosophy of life, everyone is free to    decide what is morally or ethically correct, and the conscience is the guide.

The problem is, whose conscience? If we unapologetically declare John 14:6, that Jesus is the only    way to heaven, we are viewed as narrowminded and intolerant of other sincere religious people. I    recently read where a noted preacher said that he respected other religion's path to God. Brothers    and sisters, I do not respect nor tolerate another's path because they all lead to Hell except Jesus. I    find it sadly ironic that scientists believe an organic compound found on a rock from Mars is life    ("Martian meteorite: Windfall for Creationist?" Sept 23, 1996, p.7), but a fully developed heart    beating, thumb-sucking fetus in a womb is not. Instead of being a plumb line, a pacesetter in our    world, many a Christian is lowering his standards to be popular and fit into the crowd. Is it any    wonder that the church is impotent? Do we need to scratch our heads in puzzlement as to the why    the world does not flock to the church house? Either we don't know what we believe or we have    not the intestinal fortitude to stand alone with Biblical convictions. Are we drawing the world    because of the word or because of hype? Matthew 24:25 tells us that heaven and earth shall pass    away, but my words will never pass away.

America is slipping away from the people. It is eroding mostly due to silent Christians who know    better but are bowing to a golden calf. An article was published in the Weekly Standard entitled    "Gay-Ed for Tots; which describes pro-sexual curriculum for kindergartners and first graders in the    San Francisco United School District. It is called "My Family" and is promoted via the district    support services for gay, lesbians and bisexual youth department. (Debra Saunders, "Gay-Ed for    Tots", The Weekly Standard, August 19, 1996, pg.21). This is sick!! The Supreme Court has ruled    that the Ten Commandments cannot be posted on the wall of our classrooms but such garbage can    be allowed to respect the rights of this group. No wonder that our kids are in such trouble. Am I an    alarmist, or are we losing it? 1 Peter 1:19 "And we have the word of the prophets made more    certain and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day    dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts."

Absolutes are becoming a thing of the past even for us as Christians. The word is all we have and    if we don't stand on it then we are on sinking sand. It is time that we wake up and stand on God's    Word. Romans 15:4 "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that    through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."
