It's a Wonderful Life
Years ago I saw this classic Christmas movie starring Jimmy Stewart and it had a tremendous impact on my life. It reminded me of how many ways God has blessed my life. This Christmas season is a great opportunity for us to see the may ways that the Lord has blessed our otherwise meaningless lives. There are times we feel like throwing it all away because we have lost all hope and direction. I was there about a year ago as I sat in a psychologist's office in Colorado. I was drained emotionally, physically, and most importantly spiritually. I was burned out and saw no way of ever recovering. My gracious heavenly Father reminded me that He had the hairs on my head numbered and was very aware of what I was going through, and that HE the only one who was able to fix my life. In his wisdom He had intrusted a faithful wife to me twenty years prior and three deeply committed children who were by my side to encourage me and cheer me on to explore God's plan for our lives together. I want to share with you some insight that God has shown me this past year.
In the movie George was given an opportunity to view his life from a different perspective. It renewed his faith in his fellow man and his own life. We can trust in the truth that God is not bound by the things that bind us. He sees from a different perspective, and has all resources at His beck and call. Our part is to see things as He sees and trust him to work, and join Him by faith as He unravels His plan to us DAY BY DAY. Someone has said that the average person is being crucified between two thieves - the regrets of yesterday and the worries of tomorrow. Consequently, he can't enjoy today. Our God is in the business of providing for His own and leading them into pastures that are green and flowing with milk and honey. Jeremiah 32:17 & 27 say that nothing is too difficult for our God. We may pray to see him change our difficult situation and the result can be that He changes us from the inside. He can circle us with other saints who can pray for us and encourage us on.
PRAISE GOD! He is greater in you than he that is in the world. Do you realize that you only have one life and that life matters to God? Look at your life from God's viewpoint. Better yet, consider what your life will have accomplished in the end. What will your descendants say about you in 100 years? Did you live on the edge or did you always live in the comfort zone with a net to catch you? Bible characters like Paul, Joseph, Daniel and may others trusted God to do the impossible and left the crowd to stand ALONE in order to stand with God. I have not attained, but this one thing I seek after, that is an intimate love relationship with the only, all knowing, all seeing, all powerful indwelling Holy Spirit. I know this seems naive and idealistic but I am realizing that I have but one life and IT IS A WONDERFUL LIFE, TRUSTING JESUS.
