Ministry
Acts 3:1-9
After spending all of my adult life serving the Lord in ministry I have learned four basic elements that will either take you deeper and keep you longer or you will find yourself discouraged. In Acts 3, Peter and John find themselves engaged in ministry with a lot of people watching and curious. We find the four basic elements of ministry in this passage.
Know God's resources personally
These two men had experienced first hand God's power and presence. They had seen Jesus do the impossible and silence the skeptics. They had been born again and filled with the Spirit and knew this crippled man held no challenge for their God. Do you know God and His power personally?See human need compassionately (v.6)
A lot of Christians I meet, just do not care. They see lostness of men and the mission needs overseas or downtown, but are not willing to put their cellular phone down and get their hands dirty with human need. Do you really care?Commit to being God's channel (v.6)
God desires to use each and every Christian for HIS work. We are the distributor not the manufacturer. He has a job for you. He desires to use you. Hew wants to bless you. Are you available?God alone must receive all the glory (v.8)
I know men and women who are getting great results in ministry but the question is, Who are they doing it for?
