Rest
Hebrews 4:
1-13
Our body needs somewhere between six and eight hours per day to renew itself. Some people require more and some less, but when this priority is ignored trouble is on the way. Our whole physical makeup is in a delicate balance that requires exercise, nourishment and rest. I have seen individuals through the years who abused this priority and found themselves in trouble. Some make rest their avenue of escape which robs them of their relationship with God and others. It becomes their way of dealing with pressure, depression and irresponsibility. Others abuse rest by work, sports, or something which makes rest very difficult like worry, guilt, or things on your mind.
The implications for our spiritual life are obvious. The Lord requires us to rest in Him which is equally important to maintain proper balance in our walk with him. I know people who pray pray pray, and never work. I also know people who work work work for Jesus and never pray. Both positions are wrong. If you meet with the Lord, He will tell you something to do or not to do.
My relationship is based on resting in Him. Phil McHugh wrote in a song, "It's not in running but in resting that we find the strength of the Lord". To enter His rest you must bow before Him and not harden your heart. Rest is tied closely to being obedient. The only way to enter His rest is hearing His voice, and doing what He says, when He says to do it.
I am burdened that most Christians I meet never understand what I am talking about , in this concept of resting' in the Lord. Why don't you stop right now and ask the Lord what is going on in your life? Tell Him that you want to know Him and the power of His resurrection. Quit running around like a chicken with its head cut off, and ask the one who lives inside of you. God loves you and wants you to get off the treadmill to enjoy His presence, and rest.Enter in to His Rest
