Uganda Mission Trip Testimonies

Jamie Benedict

How my trip to Uganda with MCM changed my life, Jane Benedict

My experience in Uganda was indescribable.  The Lord taught me so much in those two weeks and also began instilling within me a deep love for the people of Uganda.  On the last day that our team was in together Murrill shared what had been his prayer for the past two weeks.  His prayer had been that some people on our team would consider giving there lives to either career missions or a two year commitment such as the Journeyman program.

As soon as those words came out of Murrill’s mouth I knew that the Lord was confirming my call to missions.  I began to cry, feeling completely overwhelmed because I had been praying for eight months without telling a soul about this possibility and now the answer had finally come.  I am now preparing to start my training as a Journeyman in August and I will be moving to Mityana, Uganda in October.

Murrill Boitnott and the mission teams he brings with Macedonian Call Ministry has been a great encouragement. Our town is in the middle of no where so it is a sacrifice for him and his teams to come here. The teams are always a great blessing and we are very thankful when they come here to Hoima.

Everyone who comes here with him is willing to serve the people of our village. They preach the gospel to everyone and serve everyone around; the boda bodas (motorcyclists), people working in the market and the shop attendants. They always invite more people to church than we could in a year! I would say that three quarters of the people who now attend the church here are a direct result of the work of the mission teams of Macedonian Call Ministry. He has provided materials, like Bibles, that are so vital in discipleing new believers. MCM has financially helped to start the work of putting up a church building.

I look at Murrill as the Paul of the modern day. I thank God for all who come here to help us. We don’t deserve it, but we need his help and the help of many MCM mission teams. Please visit us, if you can.

Cuba Mission Trip Testimonies

Chip Mokher

God Can Use a Guy Like Me – Chip Mokher, Plumbing Contractor, Miami, FL

For many years I thought that ministry was the responsibility of pastors and others who were gifted and trained.  While in Cuba recently I learned that God wants to use guys like me — a plumber — to accomplish His work in ministry.  I have just returned from a missions trip to Cuba with MCM.  While there God allowed me the opportunity to use my knowledge as a plumber to meet a specific need at the Baptist Camp in Yumuri.

During the dry season the community well is inadequate and leaves the camp without water.  This usually occurs during the camp’s busiest months. I was able to bring in and install a new submersible pump system.  All of this had to be packed inside our luggage and checked through Cuban airport security. We knew God was with us on this trip when all of our bags cleared customs in Cuba.  The skills and spiritual gifts that we use very day can be put to work in very practical ways so that anyone at any age can participate in missions and have a very real impact on the world outside of our comfort zone.

Thank you MCM for taking me to Cuba and giving me a chance to serve God.  I encourage you to allow God to use you to change your world.

Paul BlizzardYour Mission Trip Makes a Difference - Pastor Paul Blizard, Memorial Baptist Church Beckley, West Virginia

I was invited to the home of a former governmental official in Cuba who is now a new believer. He and his wife invited me over for dinner and after a nice dinner in their home, he and his wife humbly requested if it was possible that I could contact his elderly mother in Miami and give her greetings from her family in Cuba.  I told them it would be my honor to call her and give her his message. I also told him I would see about members of a local Spanish speaking church visiting her. As tears welled up in his eyes, he was so grateful he exclaimed, “I never thought my prayers would be answered this way.”

Upon my return to my office, I called his mother, Carmen. She was so surprised and excited she wept on the phone. She did not speak English but I managed to convey the message to her. She was so grateful to hear the news about her family. Next I called a Hispanic Baptist church near her home and spoke to the pastor’s wife.  She was very excited when I told her about Carmen and was surprised that Carmen lived only a few blocks from the church. She said, “I will visit her today!”  When I called again in a few weeks I discovered that she had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was now preparing for baptism.

What a thrill to have a small part in what God is doing in the lives of the Cuban people.  Never under estimate the extent of your influence on a mission trip.  I am grateful for MCM and Murrill Boitnott for allowing me to be a part of the ministry in Cuba.

On landing in Havana, my first impression of Cuba was "OH MY GOODNESS!! I HAD NO IDEA!" However, once I got over the initial feeling of time warp from the autos and buildings, I was quickly attracted to the Cuban people. Every where I went, I was treated like a welcome guest - not like a stranger. It was such a thrill for me to see God at work in this place with no frills, and the Christian people happy even though living in poverty conditions. Their treasure is truly in each other, in the Lord they serve, and in their heavenly future.

It is hard for me to write because the whole trip was tainted because of the junk here at home. I absolutely positively DID NOT want to return home because things were going so well and I was really looking forward to further opportunities. Having said that it is a testimony to how wonderful it is to be in Cuba and to be used of God in that I did not want to return so quickly.

After our last trip there I began to wonder about the usefulness of the “Americans” going to help our brothers in Cuba. The Cuban leadership is pretty well trained and is making great strides at training others coming behind them. It was refreshing to see again that what matters is a willingness to be used. As long as I continue to tell God that I am willing to be willing and make myself available He continues to use me. It was encouraging to me whenever God gave me some way of explaining or understanding a spiritual truth that was “new” to my friends in Cuba. It just goes to show you that if God can give speech to a donkey then He can use me and when he does it energizes my life.

And of course the friendships that are built and then strengthened are life changing. There is something about a mission trip, bathed in prayer both before and during that is different. To see God orchestrating, providing, working, moving, and teaching both in my life and the lives of others builds my faith and trust which is more and more precious to me. Everyone needs encouragement and everyone should go out of the U.S. at some point (Lord willing) in order to see that the God we serve here is the same everywhere you go and to give us a better worldview .

I continue to be amazed at how God is using Murrill Boitnott and MCM to impact the nation of Cuba. Years ago, God gave Murrill a vision of impacting Cuba with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thousands of Cubans are hearing the Gospel through his ministry. It was an honor and privilege to serve with him again. I look forward to many more missions to Cuba with MCM. If you are looking for a place to invest your resources, MCM is the place.

Guyana Mission Trip Testimony - Gerald Turner

Gerald Turner

In July 2006 I had the opportunity to travel to Guyana (in South America) on a mission trip.  Our mission was to conduct limited health clinics and sports camps. The goal was to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible.

The 9 days there were some of the best mission opportunities I have ever experienced!  I don’t believe that I had ever had an opportunity to witness to a Muslim and a Hindu but I did on this trip.  There is freedom of religion in Guyana and, fortunately, the official language is English.

I am looking forward to returning to Guyana this year. I had not originally planned to go this year but I kept telling people that I wished every high school student could go on an international mission trip before they graduate from high school. The last time I said that I was teaching Sunday School and immediately I had the Spirit of God say to me, “Why don’t you take them?” Acting upon that challenge I began to inquirer about it. God has led me to ask people to go with Macedonian Call Ministries back to Guyana.  God is putting this trip together and I am so excited to see what He is going to do through this team.
